Why are you giving money to the RNLI and WWF?

RNLI Lifeboats Everyone who spends any time by the coast develops a respect for the sea and it's potential dangers, equally we respect the courageous volunteers who regularly put their own lives on the line to help people who get into trouble. By donating fifty pence to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) for everyone who advertises with us, we are contributing in a small way to their ability to make the coastal waters safer and therefore enhance everyone's enjoyment of them.

WWF logo As the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) point out, 'The coastal zone makes up only 10% of the ocean environment, but is home to over 90% of all marine species. For example, of the 13,200 known species of marine fish, almost 80% are coastal.' Through it's Global Marine Programme the WWF established a Coral Reefs Advocacy Initiative in 2002 which has made a significant contribution to the protection of both warm and cold water coral reefs around the world.
The WWF is also actively protecting much threatened mangrove forests along tropical and sub-tropical coasts. Working with governments, oil companies, fishery agencies and others they are encouraging the establishment of a network of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) which will eventually cover at least 10% of the world's seas. By donating a further fifty pence per advertiser to the WWF we will be supporting their continued work to protect threatened marine ecologies.
